m and i have been sucked into reality shows in the vacuum created by the end of hockey season. we aren't watching too many of them, but more than either of us would like to admit. the latest show we fell victim to is fame. even though i don't have much appreciation for pop music, i think that all of these contestants had more talent than anyone on american idol. m and i were both pleasantly surprised when our favorite contestant actually won the show. who would have thought that america would pick a 36-year-old, bald, bespectacled, chinese-american man as the ultimate "triple threat"? it really gives me hope in society when it praises talent and drive over image.
