the end is near

i am sure that reality shows on tv will be the downfall of civilization. m and i stooped to our lowest last night and watched for love or money. for those of you who have been fortunate enough to miss any hype about this show or have been living in a cave, here's the premise: 15 girls trying to get 1 guy to pick 1 of them at the end of the show. but there's a catch - if they are selected, they have a choice between the taking the guy or taking $1 million. last night, the guy booted off the last girl who was just a gold digger (of course he didn't know that). at least some of the girls on there appear to have morals, unlike many other reality shows. for example, everytime i watch meet my folks i cringe at the fact that these college students are not only carrying out such acts of depravity, they are also exposing these acts on national television. i am not claiming to be without sin, but at least i am appropriately ashamed of my transgressions.

so what does it mean for our society when prime time entertainment consists of gold diggers, people who hope to make a total stranger fall in love with them in 3 weeks, and parents who have to send their child away for a week with one of three shameless strangers?
