well, "the holidays" are officially here. we had a wonderful thanksgiving dinner in fredericksburg. m's parents invited my family for dinner this year, and that made things especially nice for us. we didn't have to make the tough decision of seeing one family or running around all day trying to visit both. everyone had a good time, and we had tons of delicious food.
now comes the challenge of christmas shopping. i don't like to shop much, i.e. i have no patience for it. i think people who go out on black friday are either really brave or just certifiably insane (or a little of both). since m's family is so large, we draw names there and buy gifts for one person and fill the stocking of another. we all just blog what we want, and that makes gift shopping really easy. i have some ideas for my family, and i'm going to try to get everything done at least a week before christmas.
except for the shopping, i really enjoy the christmas season. i love all of the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of the holiday. and this year i can't wait to establish new traditions with my husband. i'm very excited about our first christmas as a family.
